The reason and prevention method of stainless steel shower hose rusting stainless steel shower hose is a necessary bathroom accessory in many families, but many people find that it is easy to rust during use. Why is it so easy to rust? What methods can prevent rust? Now, let's introduce science to everyone.
The appearance of the stainless steel shower hose is made of stainless steel, which will react with the oxygen in the atmosphere, thus forming an oxide film on the surface of the material.
After the iron oxide formed on the surface of steel, it will continue to be oxidized under the action of oxygen in the air, and the corrosion will continue to expand and form holes as time goes by.
For this reason, the manufacturer chooses to use oxidation resistant steel. In order to further increase its corrosion resistance, it will conduct electroplating on the surface of oxidation resistant steel, but this does not mean that the steel after electroplating will not rust and corrode. The electroplating coating is just a thin film on the surface. This protection is limited. Once the protective layer is damaged, the steel surface will start to rust.
Generally speaking, the corrosion resistance of stainless steel materials is directly related to the chromium content in the materials. If the chromium content in the materials is 10.5%, the corrosion resistance of steel can be greatly increased, but it does not mean that the higher the chromium content, the higher the corrosion resistance of steel. According to research, although the chromium content in steel increases, the overall corrosion resistance of steel has not significantly increased.
This is mainly because the type of surface oxide has changed when the steel is alloyed with chromium, making the surface similar to the oxide formed on the surface of pure chromium metal. The closely adhered chromium rich oxide will protect the surface of steel, thus effectively preventing steel oxidation.
However, this oxide layer is relatively thin, which can still retain the natural luster of the stainless steel surface, so that the characteristics of the stainless steel material can be retained. However, once this oxide layer is damaged, the lower stainless steel surface will be exposed to the air. However, after the stainless steel surface reacts with the atmosphere, this oxide layer will have a self repair process, thus forming a passive film again to protect the steel.
However, if the oxide layer on the stainless steel surface is completely destroyed, the protective effect will not be any longer. The stainless steel surface will react with oxygen, water, salt, etc. in the atmosphere, causing rust.
How to prevent stainless steel shower hose from rusting? Some people find that the hose at home is rusty, and they always find ways to remove the rust marks on it. But even after treatment, the surface gloss is not as good as when they bought it. In fact, pay attention to the following points during normal use, which can prevent rust.
1. Waterproof. Bathroom is a place where water consumption is relatively large. It is inevitable that there will be a lot of water drops and water stains when using it. Humidity will lead to hose rust. Therefore, it is necessary to do a good job of waterproof at ordinary times. After the shower, mop the floor and ventilate in a timely manner. Pay attention to the smooth drainage to reduce water accumulation.
2. When selecting the hose, you can choose the hose that has been chrome plated. The chrome plated hose has much better corrosion resistance than the hose that has not been chrome plated, so it is not easy to rust. Pay attention to check whether the coating is uniform and complete.
In addition, the stainless steel shower hose can also be sent to a special repair shop for maintenance. During use, avoid splashing acidic substances on the surface of the hose. If slight corrosion is found on the surface, it should be treated in time to prevent the corrosion surface from expanding.
